Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-16
1. What we are
PrivatePulse ("we", "our", "the service") is a financial information tool operated as an independent project. We provide estimates of private company equity value for informational purposes only. We are not a financial adviser, broker, or investment platform.
2. Data we collect
We collect the minimum data needed to run the service:
- Email address — only if you subscribe to valuation update notifications. We store this in a secure file and never sell it.
- Anonymous usage events — via PostHog (self-hosted or cloud depending on your region). We capture which company was selected and whether a calculation was completed. No personally identifiable information is attached to these events.
- Calculator inputs — never sent to our servers. All calculations run client-side in your browser. Nothing you enter in the calculator is stored by us.
3. How we use your email
If you subscribe, we use your email address solely to send you valuation update notifications — typically once per month when we update data. We will never send marketing from third parties, and we will never sell or share your email with anyone.
You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or by contacting us directly.
4. Cookies and tracking
We use a minimum set of cookies, grouped as follows:
- Essential — required for the site to work. Includes the
pp_customercookie (HTTP-only) set after a successful Stripe checkout so we can recognise you on the /account page. No analytics value, no cross-site tracking. - Analytics (optional, off until you consent) — a PostHog session cookie that lets us count anonymous page views and product events (e.g. how many people start the calculator). You'll see a consent banner on your first visit. If you reject or ignore it, the cookie is never set.
- Stripe checkout cookies — set by Stripe's hosted Checkout page only when you click Subscribe. Governed by Stripe's privacy policy (see Section 5).
We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or any other tracking for commercial purposes.
5. Third-party processors
We use the following sub-processors. Each is named here as required under GDPR Article 28:
- Vercel Inc. (US) — hosting. Vercel may log IP addresses for security and abuse prevention. Vercel privacy policy ↗
- Stripe, Inc. (US, with EU subsidiaries) — payment processing for Pro subscriptions. When you subscribe, Stripe receives your email, billing address, and card details directly via their hosted Checkout page. We never see your card number. Stripe privacy policy ↗
- PostHog Inc. (US / EU regions) — anonymous product analytics. We use the EU region when configured. Session recordings have
maskAllInputs: trueenabled so form input is never captured. PostHog privacy policy ↗ - Email delivery — when newsletter or alert email delivery is wired up, the provider (currently planned: Resend, EU region) will be added here before any email is sent. Until then, no marketing email goes out.
We do not integrate with any advertising, data-broker, or social-media tracking services.
6. Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)
If you are in the EU or California, you have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold about you (in practice: only your email address if you subscribed). Contact us at the address below and we will respond within 30 days.
7. Data retention
We retain subscriber email addresses until you unsubscribe. Anonymous analytics data is retained for 12 months by default in PostHog.
8. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, if we have your email, notify you.
9. Contact
